About Us



International Nyingma Foundation (INF) is a registered nonprofit organization based in Toronto, Canada. Founded by a group of devoted Tibetan Buddhists under the guidance of Tulku Dechen Dorjee, the Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting Buddhism—particularly the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism—and advancing Tibetan Studies.

INF organizes a wide range of spiritual programs and services, including annual teachings and major prayer gatherings such as  the Krodikali Bhumtsok (Ganachakra Feast Offering) etc. Through these activities, the Foundation supports authentic spiritual practice, community well-being, and the continuity of Tibetan Buddhist wisdom, culture, and lineage transmission.

The Foundation was officially registered on the 4th day of the 2nd month of the Tibetan Year 2149, corresponding to April 5, 2022. While established in Canada, INF serves practitioners and communities both locally and globally.

Purpose & Objectives

 

  • To preserve and promote authentic Tibetan Buddhism, with special emphasis on upholding the Nyingma lineage and tradition

  • To support individuals and communities through spiritual practice, teachings, and social services

  • To preserve and promote Tibetan Studies, as well as Tibetan–Himalayan heritage and culture

  • To serve Buddhism broadly, with particular focus on the precious teachings of Guru Padmasambhava

 

Summary of Dharma Activities (2022–2025)


Over the past three years, International Nyingma Foundation has undertaken the following Dharma activities for the benefit of both self and others:

1. Regular Local Gatherings
Since August 2022, INF has organized regular Dakini Day gatherings, offering introductions to Buddhism and opportunities for collective prayer and practice.

2. Canada Nyingma Monlam Chenmo 

  • 2022: First Canada Nyingma Monlam Chenmo Festival, presided over by Kyabje Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche

  • 2023: Second Festival, presided over by Kyabje Khenchen Pema Sherab Rinpoche and Kyabje Gyalse Sherab Drakpa Rinpoche

  • Guided by the aspirations of members and the advice of respected masters, a formal charter was drafted, revised, and approved by consensus to ensure the long-term continuity of the Canada Nyingma Monlam Chenmo. 

  • prayer texts, and Dharma materials were transparently presented to the prayer assembly in December 2023.* A Canada Nyingma Monlam Chenmo Organizing Committee was subsequently established, composed of Nyingma Dharma centers across Canada. Complete activity reports, financial statements,

 

3. Tröma (Chöd) Hundred-Thousand Accumulation Gatherings

  • 2022: First Tröma accumulation gathering, presided over by Kyabje Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche

  • 2023: Second gathering, presided over by Kyabje Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche and Kyabje Gyalse Sherab Drakpa Rinpoche

  • 2024: Third gathering, presided over by Kyabje Bakha Rinpoche and Kyabje Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche

  • 2025: Fourth gathering, presided over by Kyabje Dungzin Garab Rinpoche

 

4. Parinirvana Offerings
INF continues to organize extensive Parinirvana Puja and memorial offerings, fulfilling the aspirations of great masters of the Ngagyur Nyingma tradition.

5. Practice Support for Tröma Practitioners
Free instructional classes on ritual melodies and liturgy were offered, with special guidance from Umdze Sönam Tobgyal, supporting accurate and confident practice.

6. Empowerments & Teachings
Recognizing the rarity of receiving authentic empowerments and teachings in this region, INF consistently creates opportunities for practitioners to receive lineage-based empowerments and oral transmissions during prayer festivals and accumulation gatherings.

  •  Preliminary teachings and Khandro Thuktig long-life empowerment by Kyabje Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche

  •  Chöd teachings and Machik Tröma Nakmo root empowerment by Kyabje Gyalse Sherab Drakpa Rinpoche

  • Additional Teachings (2023):

  • Restricted Tröma teachings and empowerments

  • Empowerments from the Seven Cycles of Jamgön Sangtig Nyingpo, bestowed by Kyabje Gyalse Sherab Drakpa Rinpoche

2024 – Tröma Bhumtsok:

  •  Tröma root empowerment, Thangyal long-life empowerment, and multiple oral transmissions by Kyabje Bakha Rinpoche

2025 – Tröma Bhumtsok:

  • Tröma Phowa teachings

  • Chöd teachings and Machik Tröma Nakmo root empowerment

  •  Tröma preliminary teachings

  •  Vajrakilaya (Kilaya) empowerment, all bestowed by Kyabje Dungzin Garab Rinpoche

Closing Reflection
In accordance with its founding vision, International Nyingma Foundation humbly continues to carry out Dharma activities—small yet sincere—for the benefit of all beings. Guided by authentic lineage transmission and free from the eight worldly concerns, the Foundation remains committed to serving the Dharma, the Sangha, and future generations.
