Dudjom Tersar Lineage

Dudjom Lingpa

Guru Padmasambhava had 25 main disciples in Tibet. In the Tibetan  language, they are known as the Gyebang Nyernga. Dudjom Lingpa  (1835-1904 C.E.) was the body emanation of Kheuchung Lotsawa, one of these 25 disciples. His incarnation had been prophesied for centuries by many sublime beings, including Padmasambhava. During his lifetime,  Dudjom Lingpa revealed the lineage known as the Dudjom Tersar, which  consists of a number of texts and 22 volumes of teachings. He stated that these teachings were especially profound and appropriate for these  degenerate times. Following this fresh and undiluted path, 13 of Dudjom Lingpa’s disciples attained rainbow body in their own lifetimes, and a thousand others attained the level of rigdzin, or “awareness holder.”

Kyabje Dudjom  Rinpoche

His Holiness Kyabje Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, Dudjom Rinpoche was born on 10th June 1904 (the water dragon year) in the Pemakö region of South Eastern Tibet, the hidden valley in the Tsangpo River valley largely inhabited by wild hill tribes. His family were of noble stock and descended from Nyatri Tsenpo and Puwo Kanam Dhepa, the king of Powo. ... His father, Kathok Tulku Norbu Tenzing, was also a well-known tulku from Kathok Monastery. His mother, Namgyal Drolma, who was of the local tribe, was descended from Ratna Lingpa. Nor was the connection with Khathok Monastery entirely accidental. He was recognised as being the reincarnation of a great practitioner, Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904 CE).
"Dudjom Lingpa was a famous discoverer of many concealed teachings (Terma), particularly those related to the practice of Vajrakilaya (Dorje Phurba). Dudjom Lingpa had intended to visit southern Tibet to reveal the sacred land of Pemakö, but being unable to do so, he predicted that his successor would be born there and reveal it himself. His 14th incarnation, Duddul Dorje, had opened up places of pilgrimage in remote places of power. Foremost among these was Pemakö. Padmasambhava and the 25 disciples as well as Gampopa had previously practised there but it was inaccessible until Terton Traktung Dudul Dorje opened it up for the first time to ordinary pilgrims.

The Dudjom Lineage

As previously mentioned, Dudjom Lingpa revealed the lineage known as  Dudjom Tersar, consisting of a number of texts and 22 volumes of  teachings. He stated that these teachings were especially profound and  appropriate for these degenerate times. Following this fresh and  undiluted path, 13 of his disciples attained rainbow body in their own  lifetimes, and a thousand others attained the level of rigdzin, or  “awareness holder.” His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche also revealed about 23 volumes of  various gong-ter (mind treasures) and treatises, all of which have been  published and are available today. So the Dudjom Tersar lineage, from Düdjom Lingpa and Dudjom Rinpoche  (Jigdral Yeshe Dorje), are fresh, vivid, and direct, with no loss of  meaning, words, or blessing. These teachings, from Guru Rinpoche to  Dudjom Rinpoche and then to us, are a direct, short lineage. Therefore  this lineage is uncontaminated and has not degenerated through broken  samaya. The blessing and attainments are immediate. Padmasambhava’s tradition is the Early Translation Great Perfection School (and) Dudjom Lingpa is the chariot of the essential true meaning. May his profound treasure doctrine, until the end of cyclic existence, be maintained without waning through study and practice. Sourced from: Vairotsana.org

Tröma Nakmo (Dudjom)

Tröma Nakmo, according to the Dudjom Tersar lineage Tröma Nakmo (Skt. Krodhakālī; Tib. ཁྲོས་མ་ནག་མོ་, Wyl. khros ma nag mo; Eng. 'The Black Wrathful Mother') — a feminine embodiment of wisdom. Tröma Nakmo is the innermost secret aspect of the khandro practice in the Dudjom Tersar lineage. The chö practice of Tröma Nakmo provides us with an extremely powerful means to cut through the dualistic clinging of mind, the root of suffering thus revealing our inherent wisdom nature. Contents

The Origins of the Terma

Foreseeing the difficulties of future times, Guru Rinpoche in his compassion revealed a rare teaching of The Black Wrathful Dakini to his chief consort Yeshe Tsogyal, who later concealed this as a terma. This treasure was to be discovered at an appropriate time by one of the reincarnations of Padmasambhava’s twenty-five disciples, Khye'u Chung Lotsawa. Khye'u Chung Lotsawa reincarnated as Rigdzin Düddul Dorje, the great revitaliser of the Katok Monastery lineage, and then later as the meditation master and tertön Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904). Dudjom Lingpa received the direct transmissions of the Tröma Nakmo cycle through a series of visions of Machik Labdrön, Saraha, Padampa Sangye and others. He kept the practice secret for some time before teaching it.

The Actual Practice

In the Dudjom Tersar tradition, the practice of Tröma Nakmo contains the complete path of Vajrayana, from the ngöndro all the way through to the Dzogchen practices of Trekchö and Tögal. According to Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, "The Tröma Nakmo based practice of Chö removes obstacles, both for our short-term happiness and those hindering our ultimate enlightenment. It carries extraordinary healing power and through its practice we can accumulate merit and wisdom in a vast and rapid way. Merely making a connection to Tröma Nakmo practice brings great benefit and blessings". Sourced from: rigpawiki.org

Troma Bhumtsok Prayer

(Krodikali Bhumtsok)

The Troema Bhumtsok (Krodikali Bhumtsok) is an annual sacred prayer gathering in Canada, sustained entirely through the devotional offerings of practitioners and followers. Each year, more than 500 to 1,000 practitioners—including members of the Sangha, yogis and yoginis, and devoted lay followers—gather in collective practice, prayer, and aspiration.
The First Troema Bhumtsok in Canada was successfully convened from August 19–21, 2022, under the compassionate guidance of Kyabjé Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche, with close to 300 practitioners in attendance, marking a historic beginning for this profound Vajrayana practice in Canada.

In a time when the world is afflicted by war, violence, fear, and injustice, the Troema Bhumtsok serves as a powerful means of generating collective merit and compassion. Prayers are dedicated to world peace and harmony, the long life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the flourishing of authentic lineage masters and bodhisattvas, and the continued spread of the Buddha’s teachings for the benefit of all sentient beings.

The International Nyingma Foundation (INF) humbly organizes this annual Bhumtsok with deep gratitude to the practitioners, followers, sponsors, and volunteers, whose generous offerings fully support the gathering. The continuity of this program relies solely on the faith, commitment, and collective responsibility of the Dharma community.

Annual Troema Bhumtsok gatherings have been presided over by:
2022 (First): Kyabjé Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche
2023 (Second): Kyabjé Gyalsay Rinpoche and Kyabjé Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche
2024 (Third): Kyabjé Bhakha Rinpoche and Kyabjé Namgyal Dawa Rinpoche
2025 (Fourth): Kyabjé Dungzin Garab Rinpoche

We respectfully invite all practitioners and devotees to continue offering their service, prayers, and generosity, ensuring the preservation and flourishing of the Troema (Krodikali) lineage practice in Canada for generations to come.
